When the clock turned on January 1, 2026, I told myself I wanted to release Book 3 in the spring, but as the months passed, it became clear that I wasn’t going to make that deadline. I was frustrated with myself for not planning better. But, I kept editing, kept working, and stayed patient, with myself. I finally got everything done and then it was just a waiting game for my publisher. I was antsy waiting on the final proof because I wanted the book out ASAP. And then last week I got the email. Because I’m a self-published author, I get ot pick my release date as long as it works with the publisher’s production timeline. I opened the calendar to pick the release date for the electronic version and knew, immediately, when I wanted my book released to the world.

Juneteenth may be a Federal Holiday now, but it really belongs to Texas. We just decided to share it with the rest of you. Juneteenth is the holiday to commemorate the end of slavery. It marks the day Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that all enslaved people were free, a full two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

At first, I worried that releasing my book on such a sacred day would appear sacrilegious, but now, it feels more like divine providence. I cant tell you all the reasons why, but when you read it, you’ll know. Book 3 is incredibly important to me. It’s the book I spent the most time researching, and the one I feel is the most poignant, and the most important. I want my reader to feel something after reading this one. I want you to think. I want you to sit with it. I want it to change you. Because it changed me.

Book 3 is my declaration that I am my ancestors wildest dreams. This one is for them.
